Life at Zari

Zari Eco Village is span over 156 hectares of land area among which 82 hectares is of forest land and houses a population of 457 people in 82 households. The village has a literate population of 65% and a working population of 70%. The sex ratio is 245 male to 222 female.

The primary occupation is farming with an average household land area of 1.9 Acres. Living in the traditional houses, the average household income is INR 47,000. The village has a migration rate of greater than 50% and migrated population find their job at an average distance of 95Kms from village working at Textile, Farming, Construction, Brick Making and Wood Cutting. The village has a school dropout rate of 18% with most of them not continuing the higher secondary studies.

Zari Gram Sabha was formed on 13th February 2013 under the PESA (Panchayat Extension for Scheduled Area) Act, 2017. Gram Sabha has been carrying out initiatives under 4 pillars of change namely

  1. Water

  2. Sustainable Agriculture and Forestry

  3. Education and Cultural Security

  4. Sustainable and Responsible Tourism

The village is a collective of ignited minds, working towards betterment in livelihood opportunities.
